The vertical surge tank is a pressure vessel designed to store liquid hydrocarbons after the separation process in H2S environments. STG 654 surge tank can be used as a second stage separator, to hold a constant backpressure by using its automatic pressure control valve on the gas outlet, and to measure liquid flow rates. It consists of a double-compartment vessel and a level measuring system with magnetic level indicators. The surge tank is fitted with a pressure relief valve and a high and low level alarm system to prevent overpressure and overfilling. The vessel is fitted with sampling, pressure, and temperature ports and a bypass manifold. The surge tank is protected by a frame, operated in vertical position, and transported in horizontal position.
